Social Media, You love it or you hate, there is no in-between.
But I am here to tell you, you need to embrace it.
When you have a small business, you are the face of the business. You have to market yourself and your expertise. You have to be social in more ways than one.
My guess is you already created a Facebook Page and maybe an Insta account for your business, and that's GREAT. My second guess is you have allowed it to go dormant for lack of content or for fear of sounding like a broken record.
Engaging content can help eliminate that and bring the social side of your social media. When your content is engaging you to receive organic social interactions that will lead to open lines of communication between you and your audience. When people do interact, never leave them 'on read.' Be sure to respond and follow up with a question to promote even more engagement and positive algorithms. If you lack time, you need to designate or hire a community manager or social media manager. Facebook and Instagram also want to see you putting time into your audience, it isn't social if it's a one way only.
Remember - or you may not, when texting first came out?
Not everyone was text savvy and therefore they may not respond or even see a text. Or perhaps they refused to open it to avoid the fees when it was a pay per text world (telling my age here). Texting was not a social aspect like it is today and many people found it just annoying trying to type in QWERTY.
Now we have group texts, emojis, gifs, and a fun variety of ways to be social on text messages. It gets a lot more engaging the more people there are.
